Best time for Chengdu.

Best time for Chongqing and Wulong.

Chongqing can be visited year-round, but heat and humidity matter because the city involves hills, stairs, viewpoints and outdoor transfers. In summer, a realistic plan groups nearby neighborhoods, starts earlier and protects time for rest. In cooler months, evening walks and river views can feel more comfortable, although rain and visibility can change the atmosphere quickly.

When should you visit Jiuzhaigou?

Jiuzhaigou is often considered for its changing water colors, forests and mountain scenery, with autumn especially popular for foliage and clear light. Spring and summer bring a different landscape, while winter can be quieter and colder. Access, road conditions, park rules and accommodation demand can change, so confirm current conditions before locking the route.

If Jiuzhaigou is a priority, avoid squeezing it into a short Chengdu–Chongqing plan. It usually deserves additional travel time and a route designed around the park rather than added as an afterthought.
